 Cassette Playa is 26 year old British fashion designer Carri Mundane. She has worked with M.I.A, and New Rave banner wavers the Klaxons. Both have been dressed by and had videos styled by Carri. She is also Contributing Fashion Editor of SuperSuper, i-D stylist / contributor and recently collaborated with Nicola Formichetti for Dazed & Confused.
Cassette Playa's Spring/Summer 2007 collection is described as "a toxicolour uniform for hard boys battling real and virtual worlds". Imagine a world where lasers lace the sky, then zoom in on a backstreet, where a future street gang of pixel warriors are making their way home across the city and this gives you a good idea of the aesthetic of Cassette Playa. The clothes include digital print oversized shorts and tees, ultra-bright hallucinogenic colors, and intense patterns -- all worn a head-to-toe for maximum sensory overload. We're very excited to be showing two videos by Cassette Playa that feature her 2006 and 2007 autumn/winter collections.
