Cadence Weapon
Big Dada / Anti- / Upper Class
Edmonton, Canada

Born and raised in Edmonton, Canada, Roland Pemberton (aka Cadence Weapon) has a unique perspective that’s clearly reflected in his music. Pemberton's explosive debut, Breaking Kayfabe was an accomplished hip-hop album stacked with clever writing and impressive rhymes, paired with the electro-tones of UK grime and West Coast hip-hop. The album yielded instant praise and notoriety, culminating in nominations from the Polaris Music Prize, the Canadian Indie Awards, and "Best Rap Album of 2006" at ... More >>

Some people claim to have partied with Mexicans with Guns, drinking tequila shots until the early morning...downing bowls of salsa on a dare. The truth is that most of his history is unaccounted for...kind of a modern day Pancho Villa. What we do know is that this year has been on full blast for Mexicans with Guns. In no time at all, he h... More >>

																	Florene
Florene
Denton, TX

"Denton, Texas electronica outfit Florene loops and layers its way through slowly morphing hypno-jams, sometimes landing on a steady beat but always staring off into the distant static. While its live performances tend to feature trippy video projections and drawn-out song structures, it’s less in the jam-tronica vein and more prone to conjure up eerie background drones, echo-soaked vocal outbursts, and an overall texture that’s the sonic equivalent of dirty glitter. Florene seems to be hovering... More >>
